Private Music Lessons Overview

Private Viola & Violin

Private lessons are offered on violin and viola for children and adults of all ages from beginners to advanced students. I have found that private one-on-one instruction allows students to progress at their own pace and gain the best understanding of musical techniques. Students will perfect their technique through practicing scales and etudes. While working on solos they will learn about musicality and how to apply that to their musical works. Minor emphasis on music theory will be applied in all lessons.

Home Studio (Northland)

I’ve been teaching privately in my home studio since 2010 with students ranging in ages 4 to 80. This studio is designed specifically for private music lessons which includes a Casio keyboard, custom music stand, 2 lesson chairs, a comfy parents chair, and an antique music cabinet containing a mix of sheet music and method books.

I have found that students are more focused and relaxed learning in this environment versus in a music store because there are less interruptions and more room to practice bow techniques. Parents are encouraged to sit in and listen to their child’s music lesson and enjoy free WiFi on their laptop, iPad, or other mobile device. Students that I teach at this location attend the Liberty and North Kansas City School Districts, as well as the Parkhill School District.

Downtown Studio

In the Columbus Park Neighborhood of downtown Kansas City, we have an additional music studio that I have been teaching out of since 2011. This centrally located space provides a more convenient location for students in other areas of the city than my northland home studio. We have several instructors who teach at this location so don’t be afraid to ask me about other instruments being taught here. Students that we teach at this location attend the KC Missouri, KC Kansas School District, and as far south as the Grandview School District. Visit the downtown studio here.
